Melanie Ha, Operations Director
Melanie handles event operation and logistics for MSD catering events. Born in Saigon, Vietnam, she came to California in 1975. In 2004, she left a successful corporate career as a computer programmer to follow her passion for the culinary arts. The combination of eastern and western cuisines has yielded her great success in the catering world. Customer satisfaction is her #1 priority. Additionally, she believes in giving back to the community by providing donations and discounted services to non-profits and community organizations.
Scott Brunson, Culinary Advisor
Scott graduated with highest honors from California Culinary
Academy. Since 1990, he has been a veteran chef in the food service
industry. He enjoys sharing his knowledge with others, and this
has made him a natural as a chef instructor at the Hospitality
Management Dept. of Mission College. Self-taught in many ethnic
cuisines, he enjoys cooking Italian, Spanish, Greek, Middle
Eastern, Indian, Thai, Chinese, Japanese, American, Mexican and
classic French foods.
Following are our staff chefs who are experts in different types of
cuisines:
Alberto Anebec, Chef
Alberto immigrated from Cuba to California in 1996. When he was a
young man, he decided to pursue a career in the food service
industry, and cooked for gourmet and world-class restaurants in
Cuba. Since 1999, he has been a chef at the Fairmont Hotel in
downtown San Jose. His favorite and specialty dishes are
Caribbean, and Cuban plates.
Tina Smith, Chef
Tina has been in the hospitality industry since 2001 and
a chef at a variety of restaurants in the San Francisco Bay Area. This includes
San Jose's downtown Marriott Hotel, and a renowned San Francisco
French restaurant. She specializes in both Asian and European
style cuisines.
Antonio Alanis, Sous Chef
Antonio developed a great interest in cooking at a very young age.
He has been a sous chef at a variety of restaurants including the
Maple Tree Hotel. His specialty are Spanish and Mexican dishes.
Wendy Thiengmany, Pastry Chef Wendy, a graduate of California Culinary Academy, San
Francisco, has provided Baking & Pastry services for a variety of
events ranging from official receptions and weddings. She also has
experience in recipe and menu planning within the confines of
specific dietary needs.
